Branch and edit AI conversations

Keep the original conversation while choosing where and how its next path begins.

Open Naidan to start. If first-time setup appears, choose a working endpoint and model and finish setup before sending or generating replies. Then open a Chat with messages, or start one and exchange a few messages before branching. For an in-browser model, see browser model setup.

Create and switch conversation paths

  1. Below a message, use the pencil to edit, the send icon to resend, or the circular arrow to regenerate an answer. After editing, choose Send & Branch.
  2. Use the arrows around the version number to switch paths. They appear below your message for edit and resend, and below the answer for regenerate.
  3. For a separate Chat, choose More actions → Fork Chat below a message. It opens with the current path through that message; the header fork button includes the last message instead.

Try each way to branch the conversation

Each example plays automatically. Choose a step or use its controls to pause it. Replay this method restarts it; the page pause control shows the result.

Think of the model as a tool on your desk. Once ready, it works on the text you give it on this device.

Once the model is ready, it can process your text locally, without sending that input to an external inference service.

The new version has its own answer.

The new Chat opens with the selected user message. Its later answer was not copied, and no new answer starts automatically.

Keep versions in one Chat, or continue in a separate Chat

Edit, resend, and regenerate keep alternatives in one Chat. Editing an assistant answer uses Update & Branch, which saves a version without generating. Fork Chat opens a separate Chat in the same Chat Group, such as “Fork of Browser models”.
