Back up and restore conversations with a ZIP
Export / Import in Storage settings is experimental. It creates a ZIP copy of the conversation data held by the current storage provider. Make a new copy after important changes, keep it somewhere you can find it, and choose the import mode deliberately when you restore it.
Open Naidan to back up the conversations in this browser. If first-time setup appears, close it with ×, then use Settings in the sidebar and open Storage.
1. Download a ZIP from Storage settings
Open Settings → Storage → Backup & Restore → Manage Data, then choose Export. By default, the ZIP contains chats and their branches, groups, settings, and binary files available in the current provider. You can exclude all chats, include only each chat’s current path by excluding chat history, or exclude attachments. Add an optional filename tag and choose Export Now.
2. Select and inspect an archive
In Manage Data, choose Import and select a backup ZIP. Naidan analyzes it and displays group, chat, file, and profile counts plus a content preview. Check that this is the archive you intended before selecting Next.
3. Add data or restore by replacing it
Append (Merge) keeps current chats and groups, adds imported items with new IDs, and by default keeps the current endpoint and model settings while adding imported profiles. You can adjust the settings fields below when appending.
Replace (Restore) clears current data and restores the ZIP data and settings. If you need your current connection afterward, note its URL and required HTTP headers before replacing, then set them again after import.
If OPFS is the current storage provider, Replace (Restore) also deletes folders copied into that provider, which this ZIP cannot restore; download any files you need from those copies before replacing.
After selecting Import, Naidan verifies the archive, imports it, then reloads the page.
What this ZIP covers
A normal ZIP includes the current provider’s settings, conversation structure, chat content, and available binary objects. Local Storage does not persist sent image files, so its ZIP cannot recover them. The ZIP does not include downloaded model files or caches, copied folders held in browser storage, linked folders on your device, the complete image generation session and history, or RPC trust keys. Replace (Restore) also removes image generation history that the ZIP cannot restore.
Keep the copy useful
Finish edits before exporting: the archive stream is not locked against changes throughout its creation. A ZIP is a manual copy of the data at export time, not an automatic backup. Connection settings, including URL and HTTP headers, may be present; the ZIP has no password or encryption option in this flow. Store and share it accordingly.
