Use Naidan

Choose where your conversations are saved

Naidan keeps conversations in this browser. The Storage settings distinguish where conversation data is kept from the separate request for persistent browser storage. Choose a place that fits your data.

Open Naidan to check where this browser saves conversations. If first-time setup appears, close it with ×, then use Settings in the sidebar to reach Storage.

1. Open Storage settings

Select Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then Storage. The active storage provider appears under Storage Management. Persistent Storage has its own status and Enable action higher in the same panel.

Settings opens first; select Storage in its side navigation.

2. Choose a storage provider

Choose OPFS for larger browser data and attachments when the browser supports it. Local Storage has a smaller capacity and cannot keep sent images permanently. Choose Ephemeral (memory mode) only for temporary storage: reloading or closing the tab loses chats, groups, and settings copied into it. Selecting another provider opens a confirmation, then Naidan copies chats, groups, and settings into the new provider.

The example switches from OPFS to Ephemeral and confirms the migration.

3. Ask the browser to keep saved data

If Persistent Storage shows Best Effort, select Enable. A Protected result means the browser accepted the request to protect this site’s data from automatic cleanup under storage pressure. It does not make chats, groups, or settings in Ephemeral survive a reload. The browser can decline the request. This request is separate from choosing a storage provider.

Enable asks the browser for persistent storage and then updates the status.

Before you rely on one browser copy

  • Clearing site data, losing this device, or using another browser can still leave you without your conversations. Export a fresh conversation backup ZIP when the data matters.
  • Changing providers copies the current conversation data and settings; copied working-folder contents are not migrated. Switching away from OPFS or Local Storage leaves chats, groups, and settings in the old provider; switching away from OPFS also leaves its files there. Moving from OPFS or Ephemeral to Local Storage warns when attachments will become inaccessible.
  • Ephemeral applies to the selected Naidan storage provider, including chats and settings. Other browser preferences and model caches may still remain on this device.
