Manage saved files and working folders in Settings
The Files screen helps you find files already saved by Naidan. The Folders screen lets you link a folder on your device or make a separate browser copy, then set where the Shell tool can access it.
Open Naidan’s Files settings / Folders settings directly, or follow the first step from the chat screen.
1. Open Settings and choose a screen
Select Settings at the bottom of the chat sidebar. In the Settings navigation, select Files to inspect saved files or Folders to manage working folders.
2. Find a saved file
Files saved with chat attachments, such as an image you sent, can appear here, including files from other chats. Inside Files, the saved-file list is headed Binary Objects. Search by name, ID, or file type; select a row to preview it. Use the download icon to keep a copy outside Naidan. You can also sort the columns, switch between list and grid, refresh the list, or delete a file after confirming. To add an image for a conversation, attach it in the chat and send the message.
Shell can also read these saved files when the Naidan file mount is on. See how to read chats and saved files through Wesh sysfs.
3. Choose a linked folder or a browser copy
A linked folder refers to the original files on your device; a copied folder is separate data in browser storage. In Folders, choose Add Folder to link the original. Pick Read Only or Read/Write, then select the directory in your browser’s picker. Read/write access can change the original files when the Shell tool is used. Browser support and permission affect whether linking is available.
4. Copy a folder when you want a separate workspace
Choose Copy Folder and select a directory. Naidan copies it into browser storage, shows progress, and mounts the copy as read-only at first. Edits made later to a writable copy stay in that browser copy, separate from the original. The information control beside Copy Folder also offers Copy a single file instead; that file becomes a copied folder entry here, not an upload to the Files list.
5. Check the path and access before using the folder
A newly added folder appears under In Use Globally with a mount path. Global mounts are included when the Shell tool runs in a chat that has the tool enabled, together with any group or chat mounts. The displayed Read Only badge means the mount cannot write. Choose Configure on its card to change Path or Access Mode, then Save Changes. A linked folder may require fresh browser permission. Choose Stop using to remove its global mount; the folder remains under Not in Use Globally, where Use mounts it again as read-only. Renaming and deleting the folder entry are separate actions.
Before asking AI to work with files
For a folder, check the global mount, the chat’s effective mounts, and whether the Shell tool is enabled. A linked folder needs browser permission as well. Delete a copied folder entry only when you no longer need its browser-held copy; removing a linked entry leaves the original device files untouched.
